Do your products contain palm oil or its derivatives?Updated a month ago

The issue of palm oil has been a challenging topic since we made our first product. We have designed and formulated every product to ensure they leave a minimal impact on the planet.

We have carefully selected every ingredient to ensure we don’t use palm oil or palm oil derivatives. However, where there has not been a viable solution, we have made sure that the palm oil used is RSPO certified, has a very low percentage of the overall ingredient in the product and that we can trace the palm oil that we have used back to the direct supplier.

There are currently two ingredients we use to make our products that contain traces of RSPO palm oil, which include:

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA)

This is an Anionic Surfactant and is derived from Coconut. It is used in our Washing Up Liquid, Laundry Liquid, Hair Shampoo and Bodywash to act as a mild cleaning and foaming agent. We have used this over as an alternative to other ingredients, such as SLS/SLES as it is 100% Sulphate Free.

  • Polysorbate 20

This is an Emulsifying Agent and is derived from Sorbitol. It is used to help blend water and oil-based ingredients together to create a more stable and uniformly dispersed product. It is found in our Washing Up Liquid, Hand & Body Lotion, Hair Shampoo, Fabric Conditioner and Bodywash.

There is no easy answer to Palm Oil, and we share the same views as The Eden Project and Greenpeace that an outright ban is not the answer as the ingredient itself produces the highest yield per square meter over any other alternative oil. Moving to another natural resource would shift the problem onto another oil, which would produce a larger environmental impact.
